Empowering children in Utah to use their creativity to help the children of Umpiem Mai refugee camp in Thailand.

BHM is organizing a unique event during World Refugee Day this coming June. The program is “TEES-for-REFUGEES” – an opportunity for children to decorate children’s tee shirts for refugee children residing in camps in Thailand.
What started as a great idea has taken on an urgent need today. On February 23rd, a fire swept through the Umpeim Mai camp in Thailand, destroying over 1,000 homes – one-third of all homes at the camp. Children who hardly had anything to begin with have lost absolutely everything. There are over 4,000 children living at this camp.
During this June’s World Refugee Day, we want each child attending to have an opportunity to decorate a tee shirt that we will send to the children of Umpiem Mai. Not only will this help those who survived the fire, but be a powerful means for children to connect with their contemporaries on the other side of the world and to feel that their creative efforts can make a positive difference in the lives of others.
In addition, we will hold a contest for the best tee-shirt design, with a prize for the winning child (or children!).
