The CDC is a lifeline for migrant children from Burma, offering a safe, supportive learning environment from preschool through 12th grade. For children displaced by conflict and denied access to Thai schools, the CDC is often their only chance at a meaningful education.
More than just academics, the CDC curriculum includes:
This holistic, multicultural approach not only prepares students for productive, economically stable futures—it also fosters cross-cultural understanding and equips students to become community and political leaders who will one day help rebuild a more just, inclusive Burma.
The CDC is particularly vital for the children of Backpack Medics—courageous health workers who provide care deep inside Burma’s conflict zones. These medics are constantly on the move and face daily threats from the Burma Army. It is not safe for their children to remain with them, nor is there any educational infrastructure where they serve. Without CDC, these children would have no access to safety or schooling.
Thanks to a generous grant from Buddhist Global Relief, Burma Humanitarian Mission (BHM) has been able to support some of these children at CDC. But many more children remain in need, and we cannot do it alone.
It costs just $125 to sponsor one child at the CDC for an entire school year. This donation covers:
Your gift directly supports a child’s right to learn, grow, and build a better future—not just for themselves, but for their communities and for Burma.
Your support will protect a child from exploitation, poverty, and a life without opportunity. More importantly, it will equip a new generation to lead with empathy, education, and courage.
Donate today to sponsor a child at the Child Development Center. Help shape the future of Burma—one student at a time.
